New On DVD: Garden of the Dead

New this week from Bayview Entertainment is the 'Shock-A-Thon Wide Screen Double Feature' of Shriek of the Mutilated / Garden of the Dead.

"A double-dose of shock and terror await you as the Dead walk and Sasquatch stalks the living in this Wide Screen scream fest double-feature DVD. GARDEN OF THE DEAD (1972) tells the horrific tale of a gang of ruthless prisoners who, after being slaughtered in an attempted escape, return as zombies, hell bent on destroying the living. SHRIEK OF THE MUTILATED (1974) spins an even wilder yarn, as Bigfoot hunts a group of college students on a remote island off the coast of New York! From the creative force behind the cult classic Invasion of the Blood Farmers! Both features are presented in widescreen and the DVD has the following bonus features: original trailers, plus a GARDEN OF THE DEAD Commentary Track by Cult Filmmakers David DeCoteau and Fred Olen Ray."

Garden of the Dead, originally released in 1972, was directed by John Hayes and stars Philip Kenneally, Duncan McLeod, John Dullaghan, John Dennis, and Susan Charney.

Shriek of the Mutilated / Garden of the Dead is available now on DVD.

New On DVD: The Dead Reborn

New this week is The Dead Reborn.

Info on this one is sketchy. No IMDB entry and different sources credit the release to Full Moon and/or Wizard Entertainment (both associated with Charles Band). The trilogy's two directors are cited as Dave Parker and Victoria Sloan (an alias for David DeCoteau).

"From biochemical virus outbreaks to bizarre occult rituals, the dead have risen to walk the Earth once more. In these three chilling tales of the living dead, no one is safe: Can you withstand the heart-pumping horror of The Dead Reborn?"

The Dead Reborn is available now on DVD.
