New On Blu: Zombie Double Feature (Dead Season / State of Emergency)

New this week from Image Entertainment is a Zombie Double Feature disc that includes Dead Season and State of Emergency.

Dead Season was directed by Adam Deyoe, and stars Scott Peat, Marissa Merrill, James C. Burns, and Corsica Wilson.

"When a worldwide viral outbreak leads to a plague of zombies scouring the earth for the living, two survivors flee the chaos of America to a remote island, hoping for a chance to start a new life. What they find is unrelenting horror. Beyond the hordes of the flesh-hungry undead, the other people already on the island force the pair into a fight-or-die battle amongst themselves. Armed only with crude weapons, they must descend to savagery and cutthroat tactics just to make it through each day. Packed with cutting-edge action and outrageous gore, DEAD SEASON is a riveting new spin on the zombie genre!"

State of Emergency was directed by Turner Clay, and stars Jay Hayden, Tori White, Scott Lilly, and Kathryn Todd Norman.

"After an explosion unleashes the contents of a military bio-weapons plant, the unsuspecting populace is transformed into a roaming army of flesh-eating zombies. Trapped in the quarantine zone, Jim (Jay Hayden, A Warrior's Heart) finds himself cut off, confused and fighting for his own survival. Contacted by a small band of others unaffected by the toxins, Jim sets out to reach their besieged warehouse. Becoming the group's de-facto leader, he struggles to keep order as they hunker down, fortify their stronghold and arm themselves against the attacking mutants. Fragmentary radio reports from outside hint at a last-ditch government rescue plan. But can the survivors hold out until help arrives… or will they succumb to the living hell of an undead apocalypse?"

Zombie Double Feature (Dead Season / State of Emergency) is available now on Blu-ray.

New On DVD: Midnight Movies Vol. 9: Zombie Double Feature

New this week from Blue Underground is Midnight Movies Vol. 9: Zombie Double Feature, a two disc set that includes Hell of the Living Dead and Nightmare City.

Hell of the Living Dead, from 1980, was directed by Bruno Mattei and stars Margit Evelyn Newton, Franco Garofalo and Selan Karay.

"An accident at a chemical plant unleashes a horrific virus, and an elite SWAT team is sent to New Guinea to investigate. But when they arrive on the hellish island, they discover a plague of flesh-eating zombies as well as a beautiful female reporter who practices nude anthropology. Can the commandos survive this cannibal rampage, uncover a shocking government secret, and still find time for the occasional cross-dressing before the ravenous hordes of the living dead infect the entire world?"

Nightmare City, also from 1980, was directed by Umberto Lenzi and stars Hugo Stiglitz, Laura Trotter, Maria Rosaria Omaggio and Francisco Rabal.

"When a radioactive spill causes mass contamination, thousands of infected citizens are transformed into bloodthirsty undead fiends. But these are not your standard stumbling gut-munchers; this is an all-out attack by fast-moving, flesh-ripping, ass-kicking maniacs that can only be stopped by a bullet to the brain. Get ready for an all-you-can-eat buffet of gunfire, gore and gratuitous aerobics where zombies run, chaos reigns and heads explode. This is Nightmare City!"
